The Van Campens Don’t Have A Dog
Well, the dog saga has ended at 1606 Chippendale. It turns out that someone claimed the vicious Pit Bull. Turns out, he belonged to a friend of our next door neighbor’s son. So, we returned him when the son called as a result of the posters L. had put up. I think we all really miss him. I forgot how much I loved having a dog around the house. My hope is that we can go to HSPCA and get a pooch sometime soon. L. and I had discussed Christmas but I have been told that anywhere near Christmas is a really bad time to get a dog from a shelter.
So, October seems like an ideal month: it is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, which means half price adoptions AND it is Toby’s birthday month AND it is my birthday month AND it is…Halloween?? AND it is also National Chili Month, National Cookie Month, National Popcorn Poppin’ Month, and Spinach Lovers’ Month. I don’t know how those last few apply but it would seem that October is indeed a good month. I am just trying to come up with wife-convincing reasons why we need get a dog sooner rather than later.

I’m hoping you guys get a dog. We’ve got Barley here at the moment, and I’d forgotten how much I like having a dog around the house. I mean, the cats are great and all, but you can’t beat chasing a dog around a park.
